The Quattro can be connected to two independent AC sources: for example the public network and a generator, or two generators. The Quattro will automatically connect to the active source.

The main output has an uninterrupted power supply function. In the event of a grid failure or disconnection of shore or generator power, the Quattro takes over supplying the connected loads. This transfer is so fast (less than 20 milliseconds) that the operation of connected computers or other sensitive electronic equipment will not be disturbed. The second output is only energized when AC power is available on one of the Quattro's inputs. Loads which would not discharge the battery – for example a water heater can be connected to this output.

The Quattro has a very powerful battery charger. It will therefore draw a large amount of current from the generator or from the mains (16 A per Quattro of 5 kVA at 230 VAC). A current limit can be configured on each AC input. The Quattro then takes into account the power demand of other output AC loads and will only use the excess for the load, thus avoiding any overload of the mains or the generator.
